These charming and whimsical creatures were actually a delightful surprise from our friends at the Meissen Porcelain Manufactury. While on a trip to Germany, the owner of L.V. Harkness admired the "Spass" which are a design by Meissen of birds painted in the costumes of various professions and characters.
A year later, while visiting Lexington representatives from Meissen unveiled the "Jockey Bird" as a tribute to Kentucky and L.V. Harkness. What a perfect addition to our collection of exclusive equine-inspired porcelain!
